Ian Strand, DO, FAAMM

Dr. Ian Strand is a dually board-certified physician in Emergency Medicine (ABEM) and Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine (ABAARM) with additional fellowship training in Anti-Aging and Metabolic Medicine (FAAMM). His clinical focus centers on men’s health, menopause and women’s midlife care, hormone optimization, metabolic health, traumatic brain injury, and performance-based medicine.

He earned his undergraduate degree in Computer Science from the United States Military Academy at West Point. Following graduation, he served as a commissioned U.S. Army infantry officer stationed at Fort Lewis, including a combat deployment to Iraq in 2007, where he held roles as both a platoon leader and company executive officer.

After completing his military service, Dr. Strand attended medical school at Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences in Yakima, Washington, followed by a four-year Emergency Medicine residency in Columbus, Ohio. In 2018, he returned to Olympia to provide emergency medical care to patients throughout the South Puget Sound region.

As an emergency physician, Dr. Strand regularly sees the full spectrum of health and disease.  Unlike portrayals of the specialty in popular television series, the bulk of everyday work in emergency medicine is evaluating patients at different stages of their life and identifying and treating chronic diseases; from pediatrics to geriatrics and everything in between.

In focusing effort on optimizing health, rather than waiting for disease, he hopes to push the boundaries of what your life can be.

The emergency department, by definition, represents the epitome of the “sick-care” healthcare system we have today.  You go to the ED because something is wrong, not because you want to maximize your health.  Since everyone eventually has something go wrong, major or minor, the ED captures the full spectrum of humanity at different stages in their lives and highlights the massive differences in individual health, particularly as we age.

This ability to separate your chronological age from your biological age has fascinated Dr. Strand for years.  He is passionate about finding a path forward that emphasizes actual “health” care.  Utilizing an integrative model and an evidenced-based approach to nutrition, exercise, supplementation, and medication his personal mission is to help people expand their health-span, their length of healthy, vibrant, and energetic life.  In focusing effort on optimizing health, rather than waiting for disease, he hopes to push the boundaries of what your life can be.
