The Real Problem

Why Diets Fail: The Root Causes of Weight Gain

If you've tried calorie counting, keto, intermittent fasting, and hours of cardio without lasting results, it's not a discipline problem. Your body may be working against you.

1

Hormonal Imbalances

Thyroid dysfunction, low testosterone, estrogen dominance, and cortisol dysregulation all directly impact how your body stores and burns fat.

2

Insulin Resistance

When cells stop responding to insulin properly, your body stores more glucose as fat, especially around the midsection, and hunger signals go haywire.

3

Chronic Inflammation

Systemic inflammation disrupts leptin signaling, the hormone that tells your brain you're full. The result: constant hunger even after eating.

4

Metabolic Slowdown

Years of dieting, stress, and poor sleep can tank your metabolic rate. Your body adapts by burning fewer calories, making weight loss progressively harder.

The Treatment

GLP-1 Medications: Semaglutide, Tirzepatide & Retatrutide

GLP-1 receptor agonists mimic a natural hormone that regulates appetite and blood sugar. Clinical trials show ~15% body weight reduction with semaglutide and up to 21% with tirzepatide. Your provider determines which is right for you based on your labs and metabolic profile.

Appetite Regulation
Slows gastric emptying and signals satiety to your brain, reducing hunger naturally
Blood Sugar Control
Improves insulin sensitivity and stabilizes glucose levels, reducing fat storage
Metabolic Support
Helps shift your body from fat storage mode into fat utilization
GLP-1 and GIP medication vials used in medical weight loss therapy

Semaglutide

GLP-1

Active ingredient in Ozempic® and Wegovy®. Weekly subcutaneous injection with gradual dose titration.

FDA-approved for chronic weight management

Tirzepatide

GLP-1/GIP

Active ingredient in Mounjaro® and Zepbound®. Dual-action GLP-1 and GIP receptor agonist. Weekly injection.

Dual-agonist for enhanced metabolic response

Brand-name or compounded: your clinician prescribes both. Brand-name GLP-1s (Ozempic®, Wegovy®, Mounjaro®, Zepbound®) are sent directly to NovoCare or LillyDirect. Compounded versions are sourced from licensed pharmacies at significantly lower cost. Most patients choose compounded, and because we have zero markup on medications, you pay exactly what the pharmacy charges us either way.

"I started this journey at 265 lbs and soon discovered even more underlying problems I had no clue about: hormonal imbalances, pre-diabetes, and other related concerns. Four months later, I've dropped over 30 lbs and feel like I'm genuinely on the right trajectory. My wife was inspired by my progress and joined the program herself."

Clinical Considerations

Where Peptides May Fit

GLP-1 medications like Semaglutide and Tirzepatide are themselves peptides: short chains of amino acids that signal your body to reduce appetite and improve metabolic function. They are the foundation of the Weight Loss program.

In some cases, your provider may discuss whether an additional peptide is clinically appropriate alongside your GLP-1 protocol. These are individual decisions made during your evaluation and follow-ups based on your labs, response, and goals — not a packaged add-on. Because our pricing model has no medication markup, the conversation stays clinical rather than financial.

Learn About Peptide Therapy

Examples of peptides your provider may discuss when clinically appropriate:

AOD-9604

Fat Metabolism

A modified fragment of human growth hormone studied for its effect on lipolysis (fat breakdown) without affecting blood sugar or growth. May be considered for stubborn adipose tissue.

5-Amino-1MQ

Metabolic Support

Inhibits NNMT, an enzyme involved in fat cell metabolism. Investigated for its role in energy expenditure and diet-induced fat accumulation.

Growth Hormone Peptides

Body Composition

Sermorelin, Tesamorelin, and CJC-1295/Ipamorelin stimulate the body's natural growth hormone production. May be considered when labs and clinical picture support body-composition support.

Frequently Asked Questions About GLP-1 Weight Loss

What's the difference between Semaglutide and Tirzepatide?

Semaglutide (Ozempic/Wegovy) targets the GLP-1 receptor. Tirzepatide (Mounjaro/Zepbound) targets both GLP-1 and GIP receptors.

In clinical trials, tirzepatide showed higher average weight loss (up to 21% vs ~15%), but the best choice depends on your metabolic profile and how your body responds. Your provider helps you decide based on your lab work.

Do you prescribe brand-name or compounded GLP-1s?

Both. Brand-name medications (Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, Zepbound) ship directly from NovoCare or LillyDirect. Compounded versions are sourced from licensed 503B pharmacies at significantly lower cost.

Most patients choose compounded. Because we have zero markup on medications, you pay exactly what the pharmacy charges us either way.

How much does the program cost?

The Weight Loss Evaluation is $199 one-time. This includes comprehensive lab work, a 60 minute consultation with your provider, and your personalized treatment plan.

If you continue with treatment, membership starts at $99/mo for ongoing prescriptions, monitoring, and protocol adjustments. Medication cost is separate and varies by type.

How quickly will I see results?

Most patients notice appetite reduction within 1-2 weeks. Measurable weight loss typically begins within 4-6 weeks as the dose is gradually titrated up.

The STEP 1 trial showed participants lost an average of 15% of body weight over 68 weeks with semaglutide.

Is GLP-1 therapy safe?

GLP-1 medications are FDA-approved for chronic weight management. The SELECT trial (NEJM, 2023) showed a 20% reduction in major cardiovascular events in patients taking semaglutide.

Common side effects include nausea and decreased appetite, which typically resolve as your body adjusts. Your provider monitors your labs and adjusts your dose throughout treatment.

Will I gain the weight back if I stop?

GLP-1 medications work best as part of a comprehensive plan that includes metabolic optimization, nutritional guidance, and addressing root causes like insulin resistance or hormonal imbalances.

Our goal is to build sustainable habits and correct underlying dysfunction so your body can maintain results long-term. Some patients taper off successfully; others benefit from ongoing low-dose maintenance.

Do you treat the root cause or just prescribe medication?

Both. The evaluation includes a full metabolic and hormone panel. If we find thyroid dysfunction, insulin resistance, hormonal imbalances, or chronic inflammation driving your weight gain, we address those alongside GLP-1 therapy.

That's what separates a functional medicine approach from a telehealth app that mails you a vial.

Can I do this via telehealth?

Yes. Our providers see patients via telehealth anywhere in Washington state. Lab work is completed at any Labcorp location, and your evaluation, follow-ups, and dose adjustments are all conducted remotely. In-clinic visits are available at our Lacey, WA office.
