Accessibility Statement
Asymmetric Health is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people of all abilities. We continually work to improve the user experience for everyone and apply relevant accessibility standards.
Conformance Status
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA.
This website (asymmetrichealth.com) is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. "Partially conformant" means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard. We are actively working toward full conformance.
Accessibility Features
We have implemented the following accessibility features across the site:
- Semantic HTML: Proper heading hierarchy, page landmarks (header, main, nav, footer), and ARIA attributes are used throughout the site.
- Keyboard navigation: All interactive elements including forms, menus, buttons, and links are fully operable via keyboard.
- Skip-to-content link: A skip link allows keyboard users to bypass navigation and jump directly to page content.
- Color contrast: We aim for WCAG AA contrast ratios (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text) in both light and dark themes, and continue to refine contrast across the site.
- Focus indicators: Visible focus outlines appear on all interactive elements for keyboard-only users.
- Alt text: Meaningful images include descriptive alt text. Decorative images are hidden from assistive technology with aria-hidden.
- Form accessibility: Form inputs are paired with associated labels, and required fields use aria-required where forms are rendered natively by the site. Some forms are embedded from third-party providers (scheduling, lead capture) and inherit those providers' form accessibility, which we monitor and report on if issues are found.
- Reduced motion: Animations and transitions are minimized for users who set prefers-reduced-motion in their operating system.
- Page language: The page language is declared as English (lang="en") so screen readers use correct pronunciation.
- Theme support: Both light and dark themes are designed with accessible contrast ratios and can be toggled by the user.
- Responsive design: The site is fully responsive and functions across all screen sizes without loss of content or functionality.
- Mobile navigation: The mobile menu uses proper ARIA attributes including aria-expanded, aria-controls, and aria-label for full screen reader support.
